Supervision

I hold a Diploma in Clinical Supervision and supervise therapists working across private practice, NHS and training settings.

My approach to supervision is relational, collaborative and grounded in curiosity. I see supervision as a space where we can think together about your clients, your practice and your experience of the work in a way that feels steady, reflective and supportive.

I believe that therapy, at its core, is a relational process. Our early attachment experiences shape the patterns we carry into relationships throughout our lives, including the therapeutic relationship. In supervision we pay attention to these patterns, how they might be playing out between you and your client, and how they may be echoed in what happens between you and me. These relational dynamics are not obstacles to the work but valuable sources of information.

I also draw on a biopsychosocial understanding of emotional life. This means we consider the whole person; their history, their relationship with their body and physical health, their relational world, environment and identity. Clients do not exist in isolation, and neither do therapists. Supervision is a space to hold the wider context in mind and to reflect on how it shapes the work.

My style is collaborative rather than directive. I do not sit in the expert seat. Instead, I see supervision as a shared enquiry, where we explore together what might be happening in the room, what is being communicated beyond words, and what is being stirred in you. I aim to create a space where you can bring uncertainty, doubt, confusion and vulnerability, alongside insight, creativity and growth. This honesty is essential for good supervision and for good therapeutic work.

I am mindful of the emotional impact of the work on you as a therapist. Supervision is also a place to explore your internal responses, your boundaries, your wellbeing and the ways your own history might be touched by your client’s material. I believe that supporting the therapist is inseparable from supporting the work.

My aim is that supervision helps you feel more grounded, more reflective and more confident in your clinical voice. Whether you are newly qualified or experienced, I hope supervision with me offers a steady base from which you can deepen your understanding of your clients, your practice and yourself as a therapist.

Supervision might include thinking together about:

• attachment patterns and how they appear in the work

• transference, countertransference and what gets stirred up

• trauma, grief, neurodiversity and life transitions

• the impact of the therapist’s own history

• the wider social context affecting the client

• questions of identity, uncertainty and therapeutic presence
